The Return of Confections X Collections

By Temo Mpodi

It’s that time of the year again when Mount Nelson’s elegant halls and lush gardens in the heart of Cape Town come alive with creativity, culture, and couture. For three unforgettable days, Confections X Collections (CxC) returns to celebrate slow African fashion in all its colour, craft, and confidence.

Now in its fourth edition, the highly anticipated fashion event runs from 6–8 November 2025 at Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, under the theme “Our Homecoming.”

A Celebration of African Creativity

Each year, Confections X Collections transforms the Mount Nelson into a space where fashion, art, and storytelling meet. It’s more than a show — it’s an exploration of African identity through design, reminding us that creativity is both our heritage and our future.

The event continues to champion slow fashion, spotlighting ethical, locally made craftsmanship that honours Africa’s design legacy while embracing innovation.

Our Homecoming: The 2025 Theme

This year’s theme, “Our Homecoming,” draws inspiration from the continent’s iconic textiles — symbols of identity, belonging, and resilience. The collections reinterpret heritage with a modern sensibility, presenting a new vision of African luxury that is mindful, sustainable, and deeply rooted in community.

Through fabric, form, and philosophy, CxC 2025 captures what it means to come home — to oneself, to culture, and to creation.

Designers Showcasing at CxC 2025

Four pioneering African designers will headline this year’s event, each bringing a distinct voice to the conversation on contemporary African fashion:

  • 6 November 2025: Anil Padia of Yoshita 1967 & Shelley Mokoena of CONNADE
  • 7 November 2025: Luke Radloff of UNIFORM
  • 8 November 2025: Laduma Ngxokolo of MaXhosa Africa

Together, they embody the evolution of African design, where heritage meets modernity and tradition inspires transformation.

A Movement, Not Just a Moment

Confections X Collections is more than a fashion showcase; it’s a movement. By celebrating the intersection of art, sustainability, and African storytelling, it continues to redefine what luxury looks like in a global context.

This November, Cape Town becomes the home of African excellence in motion — where every stitch tells a story and every garment echoes a legacy.
