MaXhosa Africa has become the first South African fashion label to secure an official runway show on the Paris Fashion Week calendar.

The luxury brand will make its official debut on 28 September 2026, when it presents its Spring/Summer 2027 collection alongside leading international fashion houses.

MaXhosa Africa makes South African fashion history

The brand’s inclusion on the official Paris Fashion Week calendar marks a significant moment for South Africa’s luxury fashion industry.

The calendar is overseen by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode.

MaXhosa Africa’s runway show will bring the brand’s South African design identity to one of the fashion industry’s most influential stages.

Laduma Ngxokolo’s celebration of Xhosa culture

Designer Laduma Ngxokolo founded MaXhosa Africa in 2010.

The brand has earned international recognition for its knitwear and contemporary designs inspired by traditional Xhosa culture.

Its designs reinterpret heritage patterns, beadwork symbolism and vibrant colour palettes through a luxury aesthetic centred on African identity.

Ngxokolo has consistently supported the use of fashion to share authentic African stories and demonstrate the international potential of locally inspired design.

He described the Paris Fashion Week opportunity as “an important milestone” and views the achievement as a victory for South African fashion.

MaXhosa Africa expands its global presence

MaXhosa Africa has presented collections internationally and built a following that includes celebrities, world leaders and cultural figures.

Despite its international growth, the brand has maintained its focus on local craftsmanship, textile innovation and the cultural narratives behind its identity.

Its appearance on the official calendar recognises the brand’s design, craftsmanship and international appeal.

Spring/Summer 2027 collection heads to Paris

MaXhosa Africa will unveil its Spring/Summer 2027 collection during its Paris Fashion Week runway debut on 28 September.

The show will give the brand an international platform while bringing greater attention to South African design and African luxury fashion.
