The Rise and Story of Connade’s Collection

By Temo Mpodi

With its Spring/Summer 2026 collection, showcased at Paris Fashion Week, Connade continues its exploration of Africa’s creative future through the poetics of connection — the invisible threads linking humanity, heritage, and creation.

Following the success of Paris, the brand is set to appear at Confections X Collections on 6 November 2025 at Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, Cape Town.

Sculptural Design, Rooted in Ritual

Connade’s latest collection, Hand in Hand, embodies sculptural precision and emotional resonance. It is a meditation on gesture as language, rhythm as memory, and the body as a vessel of shared inheritance.

Each silhouette becomes a symbol of unity — a continuation of ancient African rituals of making, gathering, and becoming. The result is a dialogue between craft and concept, where fashion transcends form to become philosophy.

A Collection Woven from Human Gesture

This season, Connade’s design language reflects evolution through restraint — merging structural precision with tactile storytelling.

Fabric becomes an archive of touch and thought, with seams tracing the choreography of creation. Handwoven textiles, sculpted by artisans, embody rhythm and repetition — gestures that echo the communal nature of African craft.

The earthy palette of ochre dust, weathered stone, and sun-worn linen evokes the landscapes that shape identity and belief.

Gesture as Cosmic Memory

In African philosophy, gesture is a form of knowledge — an act where movement carries memory and spirit. Hand in Hand transforms these gestures into futurist expressions, blending tradition with innovation.

Each fold and drape hints at motion and meaning, suggesting presence even in stillness. The garments do not simply adorn the body — they remember it.

Beyond Fashion: A Philosophy of Connection

Connade’s work proposes connection as structure, not sentiment. The collection examines the relationship between maker and material, wearer and world, positioning design as a living bridge between past ritual and future possibility.

It is fashion as meditation — a reflection on how creation itself can unite generations through shared gestures of craft and care.

From Africa to the World

With its refined narrative and rooted aesthetic, Connade is gracefully claiming its place on the global stage.

Each collection reinforces the brand’s distinct vision — where African artistry becomes architecture, and where every thread tells a story of continuity, resilience, and belonging.

Connade isn’t merely following the fashion track. It’s redrawing the map.
