The Suzuki Dzire impressed on launch in May, and it impressed even more after a full week behind the wheel. From its smart styling and comfortable cabin to strong fuel efficiency and a smooth ride, this compact sedan delivers where it matters most.
With fuel consumption averaging 6.1 litres per 100km during real-world driving, generous boot space, class-leading safety features and a refined on-road feel, the Dzire makes a solid case for buyers looking for a value-for-money five-seater sedan. Despite the shift towards SUVs over the past few years, sedans remain in demand, and the Dzire shows exactly why.
Under the bonnet
Powering the new Dzire is Suzuki’s Z12E 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, producing 60kW at 5 700rpm and 112Nm of torque at 4 300rpm. The engine is smaller and lighter than the outgoing four-cylinder unit, yet it feels responsive and well-suited to daily driving.
Suzuki claims a combined fuel consumption as low as 4.4 litres per 100km, depending on driving conditions and specification. Buyers can choose between a five-speed manual transmission with auto stop-start or a continuously variable transmission.
Whether used for commuting, family duties, or longer trips, the engine feels efficient and well-matched to the car’s character.

Exterior design and styling
The new Dzire features a refreshed, modern design that gives it a strong road presence. A wide front fascia defines the look, finished in black on GA models and piano black with chrome accents on GL+ variants. Narrow halogen projector headlamps add a contemporary touch.
From the side, the Dzire’s proportions feel balanced, helped by a raked windscreen, electric folding mirrors, a shark-fin antenna, and a confident C-pillar that flows into a compact boot. At the rear, T-shaped LED taillights add visual appeal, with a chrome strip linking them on GL+ models.
Wheel sizes vary by trim: GA models ride on 14-inch steel wheels, while GL+ versions have black 15-inch alloy wheels. Buyers can choose from seven exterior colours, including Alluring Blue Pearl Metallic, Gallant Red Pearl Metallic and Arctic White Pearl.
Cabin space and practicality
Practicality is a clear strength. The Dzire offers multiple storage solutions, including front door pockets, cup holders, a glove box and a centre console tray. Rear passengers benefit from a folding armrest with cup holders and directional air vents, improving comfort on longer journeys.
Both GA and GL+ variants come well equipped, with digital air conditioning, USB ports front and rear, electric windows, rear parking sensors, hill hold control, height-adjustable driver’s seat, central locking with immobiliser and a 12V power socket.
The GL+ adds cruise control, a multifunction steering wheel, a seven-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reverse camera, hands-free phone control and additional interior detailing.
Interior layout and comfort
The interior architecture is shared with the fourth-generation Swift, featuring a wrap-around dashboard and driver-focused layout. Horizontal air vents and angled centre controls improve ergonomics.
Finished in a beige-and-black colour scheme, the cabin feels airy and more premium than expected at this price point. The instrument cluster combines analogue dials with a clear LCD display that shows fuel consumption, driving range, and trip data, making it easy to monitor efficiency.

Safety features
Safety is a major highlight. All Dzire models come standard with six airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, electronic stability control, side-impact door beams, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child-seat anchors. This level of safety equipment is impressive for the segment and strengthens the Dzire’s family-friendly appeal.
Verdict
The Suzuki Dzire is a well-rounded sedan that delivers on comfort, safety, efficiency and value. It looks good, drives smoothly and offers features buyers expect from a modern family car, all at a competitive price point. For those still considering a sedan over an SUV, the Dzire deserves serious attention.
