Stacey-Lee May: Power, Passion and Purpose on the Track

On the track, Stacey‑Lee May delivers high-energy performances that thrill crowds. Away from the engines and tyre smoke, her life looks very different. She prefers quiet time at home with family and moments that keep her grounded.

“Stacey is a shy, quiet person who loves spending time at home with family,” she explains. This calm routine helps balance the fast pace of competitive motorsport.

The Moment Motorsport Became Her Calling

Her journey into spinning did not start as a casual interest. The turning point came when her talent gained international attention.

“The exact moment was when I got the opportunity to meet big celebrities, showcase my talent around the world, and partner with global brands such as Monster Energy,” she says.

That exposure confirmed her path. It also placed a South African spinner on a global stage where authenticity and courage matter.

For many drivers, spinning represents adrenaline and intensity. Stacey describes the feeling differently. For her, it is “relaxing”. When she enters the spin, the chaos fades and control takes over.

Family support remains the foundation of her strength. Competing in a space long dominated by men requires resilience and confidence.

“My family’s love and support,” she says, is what carries her through the pressure of competition and travel.

The Soundtrack to Speed

Music forms part of her race-day energy. If her life on the track had a soundtrack, it would be God Gave Me Style by 50 Cent.

Before every major performance, she follows a personal ritual. “I always pray and ask God to keep me safe.” Faith, she explains, remains as important as skill behind the wheel.

Switching Gears Off the Track

When asked about her dream cars, her answer stays simple. “Big, fast and sexy.”

Motorsport gear serves a practical purpose. Off the track, fashion offers another way to express confidence.

“Definitely a fancy dress with heels because it shows that I can do it all,” she says.

When competition ends and crowds leave, Stacey shifts her focus back to family life.

“I love going shopping, cooking, going on adventures with my family, calling my sister in the USA to speak to my one-year-old niece and spending time with my mom.”

Home gives her space to reset and remember why she started.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Her presence in the sport has already influenced many young girls who see her perform and realise new possibilities.

The message she now shares comes from her own experience.

“To never doubt myself and always follow my dreams.”

Beyond the track, Stacey also holds strong academic credentials. If motorsport had not captured her life, she says she would have pursued a legal career.

“I would be a lawyer as I have an LLB law degree.”

Her global ambitions remain strong. If she could spin anywhere in the world, her destination would be New Jersey, not for fame but for family.

“New Jersey, so I could see my sister after so many years.”

Looking Ahead to 2026

Learning from global motorsport figures continues to inspire her. Working with Nicolas Hamilton, the younger brother of Lewis Hamilton, in 2019 marked an important milestone.

The future now holds new ambitions.

“Big moves are coming this year, so keep your eyes peeled for Team Stacey.”

If her journey so far offers any indication, Stacey-Lee May is doing more than spinning cars. She is reshaping the narrative of South African motorsport with confidence, determination and fearless energy.
