Klippe Kou premieres on kykNET with four determined teams

Klippe Kou premieres on kykNET tonight, 15 July, following four teams as they take on the demanding road to the legendary Weg, Ry en Sleep Bull Run in Vanwyksvlei.

The new series introduces viewers to contestants whose stories of friendship, resilience and determination are as compelling as the adventure itself.

A friendship spanning almost four decades

Stofkartel teammates Charmaine “Champoo” Nolte and Michelle Geere have shared a friendship of nearly 40 years.

The pair originally planned to celebrate the milestone in France. Instead, they built an old Land Rover to compete in the Bull Run.

Their friendship has endured significant personal loss. Charmaine supported her father through Parkinson’s disease until his passing, while Michelle lost her mother during a home invasion.

“We’re basically family,” says Michelle.

For Charmaine, the experience reinforced an important lesson that while you can support someone through difficult times, you cannot carry every burden for them.

A couple who always says yes to adventure

Married couple Sharne and Ronald Knight make up the team Oh What A Knight.

Neither had heard of the Bull Run before entering, and appearing on television was never part of their plans.

“We say yes first and figure it out later,” says Sharne, describing Ronald as her soulmate and greatest adventure partner.

The couple said their biggest surprise came when they arrived in Vanwyksvlei and realised how rugged the challenge would be.

A journey of resilience and second chances

Leka Djy teammates Craig Williams and Zale Titus have been friends for 25 years.

Craig speaks about losing the woman he describes as “the girl of my dreams” in a car accident.

Zale shares his journey from 17 years of drug addiction and homelessness to recovery.

The pair arrived with a vehicle completed at the last minute, showing that determination sometimes matters more than perfect preparation.

Craig says the experience reminded him never to judge people before learning their stories.

Opposites who work together

Makkers teammates Schalk van der Merwe and Jaco Nolte believe their differences became one of their greatest strengths.

Schalk describes himself as analytical and patient, while Jaco is practical and more impulsive.

Their willingness to challenge each other helped strengthen their partnership throughout the competition.

Both say the friendships formed around the campfire and listening to the stories of fellow contestants became some of the most meaningful moments of the journey.
