With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group confirms the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force, Giorgio Armani, who died at his home on Thursday at age 91.

Known for revolutionizing luxury fashion through clean lines and subtle sophistication, his influence reshaped global style.

Employees and family shared how deeply impacted they are: “We have always felt part of a family in this company. Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication.”

The Legacy of Minimalist Elegance

Armani, the father of minimalistic luxury prêt-à-porter, held a lifelong dedication to craftsmanship and understated design. His absence at the June menswear shows reflected his quietly enduring spirit; even at 91, he showed up—until recently, even while convalescing after a hospital stay.

Milano to the World

The Giorgio Armani brand officially began on 24 July 1975 in Milan, co-founded with his friend Sergio Galeotti. By 1976, the iconic designer launched his first Spring/Summer men’s ready-to-wear collection under his own name—marking the birth of an era in fashion.

Perseverance in Every Seam

Armani never let fame define him; it was grit, motivation, and making things happen that fueled him. His dedication remained unwavering, even in his later years. His legacy endures—not just in the empire he built, but in every sleek silhouette and fabric that carries the Armani signature.

Rest well, Sir.
