DGB named South Africa’s best wine producer again

987

DGB has secured the title of Best Producer South Africa at the Mundus Vini Spring Tasting 2026 for a fifth consecutive year.

The producer also received the Best Producer South Africa Over the Past 25 Years award, reinforcing its sustained performance in global wine competitions.

The awards were presented at the ProWein International Wine Trade Fair in Düsseldorf, held from 15 to 17 March 2026.

A rare achievement in global wine judging

According to Christian Wolf, Director of Degustation at Mundus Vini, the recognition marks a significant milestone.

He noted that five consecutive wins, alongside a 25-year accolade, reflect long-term consistency rather than a once-off success.

Best of Show for Chenin Blanc

In addition to the producer awards, DGB earned Best of Show South Africa White for the 2024 Bellingham The Bernard Series Old Vine Chenin Blanc.

This category recognises the highest-scoring wines in their class.

A milestone year for Mundus Vini

The awards follow the 38th edition of the competition, where approximately 5,500 wines from around the world were evaluated.

Entries were judged by an international panel of wine experts, reinforcing the credibility of the results.

Recognition for South African wine excellence

Tim Hutchinson, Executive Chairman of DGB, said the achievement reflects the work of the company’s teams.

He credited winemakers, viticulturists and cellar teams for maintaining high standards and consistent quality.

The recognition also highlights the strength of South Africa’s wine industry on the global stage.

Consistency drives global success

DGB’s continued success at Mundus Vini underscores a broader trend.

South African producers are gaining sustained international recognition, driven by quality, innovation and long-term investment in viticulture and production.
