Peugeot has expanded its Landtrek bakkie range in South Africa with a new 2.2-litre Multijet turbodiesel engine producing 147kW and 450Nm, increased towing capacity of 3,500kg and additional safety technology.
The updated Peugeot Landtrek is available in Double Cab Allure and 4Action derivatives, with prices starting at R666,900.
Sales of the new models commenced on 8 October 2026 through Peugeot dealerships nationwide.
The introduction forms part of Peugeot South Africa’s efforts to strengthen its position in the competitive one-ton bakkie segment, with improvements focused on performance, technology, safety and everyday practicality.
Peugeot Landtrek gets more powerful 2.2-litre diesel engine
The biggest change to the updated Peugeot Landtrek is the introduction of a 2.2-litre Multijet turbodiesel engine.
Producing 147kW and 450Nm of torque, the new engine delivers 37kW more power and 100Nm more torque than the existing 1.9-litre turbodiesel unit.
The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission featuring an electronic gear selector, also known as an e-shifter.
The upgraded powertrain is designed to provide greater capability for motorists who use their bakkies for work and everyday driving.
Towing capacity increases to 3,500kg
The new Landtrek also benefits from an increase in maximum towing capacity.
Previously rated at 3,000kg, the updated model can now tow up to 3,500kg.
This represents a 500kg increase over the existing model.
The improvement adds to the Landtrek’s appeal for customers who require a bakkie capable of handling demanding work and everyday transport requirements.
Updated interior with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
Peugeot has also introduced several technology upgrades to the Landtrek’s cabin.
The updated models feature a revised digital instrument cluster and infotainment system, giving the interior a more contemporary appearance.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are now available, allowing compatible smartphones to connect without a cable.
An electronic parking brake has also been added.
These updates are intended to improve convenience and the overall driving experience.
New safety features for the Peugeot Landtrek
The updated Landtrek gains additional driver assistance technologies designed to improve convenience and confidence behind the wheel.
The new features include:
- Lane Departure Warning: Alerts the driver when the vehicle departs from its lane.
- Adaptive Cruise Control: Helps manage cruising speed in relation to traffic.
- Blind Spot Detection: Alerts the driver to vehicles in areas that may be difficult to see.
The additions strengthen the Landtrek’s technology and safety offering in the one-ton bakkie segment.
Peugeot focuses on everyday bakkie practicality
Moeketsi Mapogo, Brand Head: Pro One LCV at Stellantis South Africa, says the upgrades build on the Landtrek’s existing strengths.
“The Landtrek has established itself as a capable, dependable and versatile bakkie, and these latest enhancements take it to the next level,” says Moeketsi Mapogo, Brand Head: Pro One LCV at Stellantis South Africa. “We know our customers rely on their bakkies every day, so we’ve focused on the updates that will make the biggest difference in how they use them. The result is a Landtrek that stays true to its strengths while offering customers even greater value.”
The updated models retain the Landtrek’s focus on practicality while introducing more power, increased towing capability and additional technology.
