TiMO ODV Gears Up for ULTRA South Africa 2026

TiMO ODV is counting down to his highly anticipated return to ULTRA South Africa, where he will take to one of the country’s biggest stages alongside Kyle Cassim in a B2B set.

Known for blending melodic techno, tech house and indie dance, the ‘Save Me’ hitmaker continues to push creative boundaries while flying the flag for local electronic talent.

With the festival set to light up Johannesburg and Cape Town, TiMO ODV shares insight into his journey, creative process and what fans can expect.

You’re a massive name in the local dance scene. Where did your passion for music begin?

My passion for music began when I was five, carting my cassette tape player with me everywhere. At that age it was Backstreet Boys. As far as electronic music goes, my love for it started in my late teens while listening to tech house and other genres in nightclubs on the East Rand of Johannesburg.

You love being experimental in the music you produce. How important is it to let that creativity flow for you?

I’m the type of artist who can only make what I’m feeling. If I’m not feeling it, I can’t create the vibe, no matter how much I want to. Sometimes what I feel connects with people, and sometimes it doesn’t, but it always has to be honest.

You just dropped your new single ‘Me, I Dance’ with Advent. Tell us more about that track.

I wanted to make something that works in my sets, so Advent and I put it together. The vocals poke fun at the current state of club culture, where people sometimes focus on everything except the music.

You’re set to perform at ULTRA South Africa this year. What does playing a festival of this scale mean to you as a South African electronic artist?

It’s always great playing big stages. Seeing a crowd connect with the music on that level is something special.

Festivals like ULTRA bring international and local acts together. Why are platforms like this important for the local scene?

When people see local artists on the same stage as international acts, it changes perception. Sometimes the crowd ends up preferring the local talent. Without platforms like this, local DJs would stay hidden in smaller venues without the chance to show what they can really do.

ULTRA crowds are known for their energy. How does that influence your set?

You bring higher energy and move between genres more. You’re not locked into one sound. You can shift between melodic techno, tech house and indie dance depending on how the crowd responds.

Can you give fans a hint of what to expect from your ULTRA set?

I’m excited about the B2B with Kyle Cassim. Fans will hear my new single, some VIP edits, unreleased tracks and a selection of my current favourites.

What else do you have planned for the rest of 2026?

I’m focused on finishing more music than before and releasing it throughout the year.
