The nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards were officially announced on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, with HBO Max’s medical drama The Pitt leading the field.
Actors Liza Colón-Zayas and Jeff Hiller announced the nominees, with The Pitt earning 25 nominations across the Primetime Emmy categories.
It is followed closely by the fifth and final season of Hacks, which received 24 nominations and set an all-time record for a comedy series in a single season.
The main ceremony will air live coast-to-coast on NBC and Peacock on Monday, 14 September 2026. Mariska Hargitay will host the awards.

The drama race includes a strong mix of returning favourites and new contenders, with HBO Max, Netflix, Hulu and Apple TV represented across the major categories.
