Social grant beneficiaries still using South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) Gold Cards have until 31 August 2026 to switch to Postbank Black Cards.
Postbank has urged beneficiaries to complete the migration as soon as possible. Gold Cards are being phased out and will stop working once the migration process ends.
Those who miss the deadline risk disruptions when accessing their social grant payments. The deadline and replacement details have been confirmed by government.
Do Not Wait Until Your Grant Payment Date
Postbank has warned beneficiaries against waiting until their usual grant payment dates to replace their cards.
Demand is expected to increase as the deadline approaches, which could result in longer queues at replacement sites.
