The full match schedule and ticket pricing for the Men’s Rugby World Cup Australia 2027 have been confirmed. Dates, venues, and kick-off times are now set for all 52 matches.

This edition marks a major shift for the tournament. For the first time, 24 teams will compete, increasing global representation and expanding the competition format.

A new era for the Rugby World Cup

The 2027 tournament will run across seven consecutive weekends. The schedule focuses on weekend fixtures to improve attendance, broadcast reach, and fan experience, while keeping player welfare central.

Only two Monday matches appear across the six-week competition. One aligns with an Australian public holiday.

Opening match in Perth

The tournament opens in Perth | Boorloo on 1 October. Hosts Australia face Rugby World Cup debutants Hong Kong China in a landmark opening fixture.

During the pool phase, the Wallabies will also play in Sydney | Gadigal and Brisbane | Meeanjin, giving fans across the country access to live matches.

Springboks begin title defence

Reigning champions South Africa open their campaign on 3 October in Adelaide | Tarntanya against Italy. The Springboks enter the tournament chasing a third consecutive World Cup title.

Adelaide Oval will also host Zimbabwe on 2 October, marking their return to the Rugby World Cup for the first time since 1991. They face Wales in a highly anticipated pool match.

Weekend focus and festival format

The schedule spans 19 matchdays and clusters fixtures around weekends. Each of the seven host cities will stage double-header weekends.

Host cities include:
• Perth | Boorloo
• Adelaide | Tarntanya
• Brisbane | Meeanjin
• Sydney | Gadigal and Wangal
• Melbourne
• Newcastle | Awabakal-Worimi
• Townsville | Gurambilbarra

This approach creates a festival-style atmosphere, with supporters from different nations sharing matchdays and venues.

Historic Super Sunday and knockout rounds

The pool phase ends on 17 October with a first for the tournament. A Super Sunday will feature five matches in one day.

The inaugural round of 16 will take place in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney. Quarter-finals follow in Brisbane and Sydney.

The final stages move exclusively to Wangal, Sydney. The city will host both semi-finals, the bronze final, and the Men’s Rugby World Cup Final on Saturday, 13 November 2027.

World Rugby leadership reacts

World Rugby Chair Brett Robinson described the announcement as a milestone moment for teams and fans. He said the schedule balances player welfare, fan experience, and global engagement.
