Red Bull Dance Your Style SA finals hit Bloem

726

Red Bull Dance Your Style 2026 National Finals heads to Bloemfontein for the first time, bringing the country’s top freestyle dancers to the stage on 28 March 2026.

The event takes place at Old Grey Sports Club, where 16 finalists will battle for a place at the global final later this year. With a hometown dancer in the mix, the energy in the city is set to run high.

The title defender returns

All eyes will be on Mason “Beasty” Booysen from Gqeberha, who returns to defend his national title. At only 18, he claimed victory in 2024 and went on to represent South Africa at the world stage in Mumbai.

He enters this year’s competition sharper and more unpredictable, already proving his edge by defeating his brother in the regional qualifiers.

Standing in his way is a lineup packed with rising talent and experienced competitors, including former champion Shannon “Shanny J” Kivido.

A new wave of talent takes centre stage

This year’s Top 16 reflects a broader mix of styles, cities and voices.

Bloemfontein’s Relebohile Matiya has already made history as the first female dancer to win a regional qualifier this season. Competing on home ground, she carries strong local support into the finals.

From Johannesburg, Tumelwano “Duppyy” Mofokeng arrives with confidence after winning his qualifier, while Cape Town’s Delron Davids brings experience and consistency.

Durban’s Lonwabo “Chucky Boy” Jele, one of the youngest competitors, enters with a signature style that has already captured crowd attention.

The full lineup spans amapiano, pantsula, krump, vogue, breaking and more, reflecting the depth and diversity of South Africa’s street dance culture.

No judges. The crowd decides

What sets this competition apart is its format. There are no judges and no set playlist.

Dancers face off in one-on-one battles while a DJ plays unexpected tracks. The audience votes after each round, deciding who moves forward.

This format creates a live, unpredictable atmosphere where connection with the crowd matters as much as technical skill.

One shot at the world stage

The winner of the national final will represent South Africa at the global final in Zurich later this year.

Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final 2026 takes place on 24 October at the Hallenstadion, bringing together top dancers from around the world.

For the finalists in Bloemfontein, this is more than a competition. It is a chance to step onto an international stage and represent local culture at the highest level.
