Pieter Joubert tragically dies in tragic accident at Knysna Speed Festival

The Knysna Speed Festival has been plunged into mourning following the tragic death of seasoned competitor Pieter Joubert, who lost his life in a heartbreaking accident on the second day of the Simola Hillclimb event.

During his first run of the day, Joubert was behind the wheel of his Lotus when the vehicle appeared to suffer a mechanical failure, causing him to lose control on the fast uphill straight. The car veered off the course, leading to a devastating crash. Emergency services, including on-site medical, fire, and emergency crews, swiftly rushed to the scene, but unfortunately, Joubert was pronounced dead at the site of the incident.

In response to this tragic occurrence, the authorities are diligently following all necessary protocols related to such incidents. Meanwhile, the family of Joubert, who were present at the event, are being supported by the festival’s organisers, reflecting the close-knit community that motor racing fosters.
