Paxton Fielies has responded to online criticism after social media users attempted to body shame the singer following the release of recent bikini photos from her trip to Dubai.
The former Idols South Africa winner shared pictures of herself relaxing poolside while in Dubai for a music performance, sparking a wave of mixed reactions online.
Bikini photos spark online conversation
Paxton posted several images of herself wearing a brown bikini while visiting Drift Beach in Dubai.
While many fans praised her confidence and appearance, others criticised her weight gain in the comments section.
Some of the comments included:
- “The nothing to offer pose.”
- “Injection maak net kak.”
- “Go on a serious diet.”
- “Look the part.”
The criticism quickly sparked debate online around body image, unrealistic expectations and the treatment of female celebrities on social media.

Paxton responds to criticism
In response to the backlash, Paxton shared a message defending her body image and calling out negativity directed at women online.
“Hey everyone, I just want to address something really personal that’s been on my heart,” she wrote.
“I come from a line of women who embrace their curves, who love boldly, and who live unapologetically.”
She continued:
“I am made in God’s image, and I’ll be damned if I let anyone make me feel less than that.”
Paxton also said her platform would never promote body shaming or negativity toward women.
“Representation matters. My social media page is not a space that will ever conform to body shaming, negativity, or harm toward women.”
The singer added that she has been taking time away from the spotlight while working on new music.

Fans and celebrities rally behind the singer
Supporters quickly flooded the comments section with messages of encouragement.
Former Idols SA judge Unathi Nkayi commented: “Hello Gorgeous.”
Other followers defended the singer, with many pointing out that body changes are a normal part of adulthood.
One supporter wrote: “People need to understand that when she was on Idols, she was a young child. She’s not that child anymore. She’s a grown woman whose body has changed.”
Another added: “You’re looking beautiful, Paxton. Enjoy the soft life and don’t allow people’s negativity to affect you.”
‘I am completely comfortable with my body’
Speaking to Inbound SA, Paxton brushed off the criticism and made it clear she remains confident in herself.
“It isn’t much of a big deal and I am completely comfortable with my body,” she said.
The singer’s response has since drawn praise online, with many applauding her for promoting body positivity and self-acceptance.
