Linda Mtoba Unmasked as Lady Monster on The Masked Singer South Africa

Award-winning actress and media personality Linda Mtoba has been revealed as the celebrity behind Lady Monster on Season 3 of The Masked Singer South Africa, surprising both the detective panel and viewers.

The popular Isibaya star successfully kept her identity hidden throughout her time on the SABC 2 reality competition, despite a series of clues and standout performances.

Four new masks enter the competition

The second episode introduced four new masked celebrities to the stage:

• Lady Monster
• Spotty
• Mosquito
• King Pie

Each contestant performed in an attempt to avoid elimination and remain in the competition.

The clues that fooled the detectives

Lady Monster performed HUNTR/X’s hit song “Golden”, while her clue package hinted at a celebrity who rose to fame in 2016, the same year Pokémon Go became a global phenomenon.

Other clues referenced her dislike of following recipes, her independent personality and her strong family values.

Despite analysing every clue, the celebrity detectives failed to identify her.

Somizi Mhlongo believed Lady Monster was actress Brenda Ngxoli.

J’Something guessed Busiswa Gqulu.

Skhumba Hlophe selected Thembi Seete.

Sithelo Shozi, who is one of Linda’s close friends, believed the celebrity behind the mask was actress Mampho Brescia.

A surprise unmasking

After the audience and detectives cast their votes, Lady Monster found herself in the danger zone alongside Spotty.

Spotty was ultimately saved, meaning Lady Monster became the second celebrity to be unmasked this season.

The reveal left the panel stunned.

Sithelo immediately recognised her friend and excitedly shouted about Linda’s daughter, Beanie, while Skhumba jokingly reminded her that she had laughed at him the previous week for failing to identify Trevor Gumbi.

Linda shares why she joined the show

Following her unmasking, Linda revealed that her daughter, Beanie, is a devoted fan of The Masked Singer South Africa and encouraged her to take part in the competition.

She also admitted that her family, especially Beanie, would probably tease her for managing to keep such a big secret.
