Justin Gaethje captured the undisputed lightweight championship by defeating Ilia Topuria via fourth-round TKO (corner stoppage) in the main event of UFC Freedom 250 on Sunday, 14 June 2026.
The historic seven-fight card took place on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C., with every bout on the card ending via knockout or technical knockout.
Gaethje battles back to claim lightweight gold
Coming into the fight as a heavy betting underdog, Gaethje overcame early adversity to secure one of the biggest victories of his career.
Topuria appeared to be in control during the second round and dropped Gaethje with body shots. However, the American veteran recovered and gradually turned the tide of the contest.
Gaethje inflicted significant damage on Topuria’s face over the championship rounds, forcing Topuria’s corner to stop the fight before the fifth round could begin.
The victory saw Gaethje crowned the undisputed UFC lightweight champion.
Gane stops Pereira’s title bid
The co-main event featured a historic opportunity for Alex Pereira, who was attempting to become a champion in a third UFC weight division.
However, Ciryl Gane had other plans.
The French heavyweight overwhelmed Pereira and secured a second-round TKO victory to capture the interim heavyweight championship and earn a future unification bout with Tom Aspinall.
O’Malley delivers another highlight finish
Former bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley produced one of the standout moments of the evening with a spectacular walk-off knockout victory over Aiemann Zahabi.
The win ended Zahabi’s seven-fight winning streak and reinforced O’Malley’s reputation as one of the UFC’s most dangerous strikers.
Undefeated Hokit continues rise
Heavyweight prospect Josh Hokit maintained his unbeaten professional record, improving to 10-0 after stopping veteran Derrick Lewis in the second round.
Elsewhere on the card, Mauricio Ruffy defeated Michael Chandler via first-round TKO, Bo Nickal stopped Kyle Daukaus in the opening round, and Diego Lopes knocked out Steve Garcia in the featherweight contest.
