Award-winning South African girl group Jamali will release their new single, Ohema, on 24 July 2026 as they continue their long-awaited comeback.
The song is the first official single from the group’s upcoming EP, Full Circle, their first body of work in more than a decade.
A celebration of womanhood
Following the response to their reunion, Jamali say Ohema celebrates strength, confidence and the power of womanhood.
Derived from the Akan language of Ghana, Ohema means “queen”, reflecting the song’s message of embracing self-worth, resilience and individuality.
The single combines Jamali’s signature vocal harmonies with contemporary African sounds to create what the group describes as an uplifting anthem rooted in African identity.
Jamali introduce a new chapter
“This song is about owning who you are and recognising the queen within yourself,” says Jamali. “After everything we’ve experienced over the past twenty years, individually and together, ‘Ohema’ feels like the perfect introduction to this new chapter. It’s confident, celebratory and authentically African.”
Full Circle marks the group’s return
Twenty years after first winning over South African audiences on Popstars 2003–2004, Jamali say they have come full circle.
What began as a reunion to celebrate their 20-year anniversary has grown into a new chapter for one of South Africa’s best-known girl groups.
According to the group, Ohema offers fans the first glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming Full Circle EP, combining their legacy with a fresh musical direction.
Ohema will be available on all major digital streaming platforms from 24 July 2026.
