Inverroche named Africa’s Leading Distillery Tour for third year running

Inverroche Distillery in Stilbaai has been named Africa’s Leading Distillery Tour 2026 at the World Travel Awards, securing the title for the third consecutive year.

The recognition puts the Garden Route distillery’s visitor experience in the spotlight, where guests learn about the production of its fynbos-infused spirits and the indigenous botanicals behind them.

The World Travel Awards recognise excellence across the global travel, tourism and hospitality sectors.

A distillery inspired by the Cape Floral Kingdom

Located in Stilbaai along South Africa’s Garden Route, Inverroche is surrounded by the landscapes that inspired the brand from its beginnings.

The distillery sits within the Cape Floral Kingdom, a region known for its biodiversity and natural beauty.

Founder Lorna Scott established Inverroche in 2011, developing a gin inspired by the indigenous fynbos surrounding her home.

Inverroche went on to become the first distillery to use Cape fynbos as a defining botanical in its gin.

“Winning for a third consecutive year is a wonderful recognition for the team and for what we have built in Stilbaai,” says Scott.

“It is confirmation that African luxury doesn’t need to look like anywhere else. It can look like this: unhurried, extraordinary, rooted in one of the most remarkable landscapes on earth.”

Visitors to the Stilbaai distillery can take part in guided tours and learn about the fynbos botanicals used in Inverroche’s spirits.

Guests also have the opportunity to create and bottle their own bespoke gin under the guidance of the distilling team.

The experience connects the spirits with the surrounding landscape and botanical heritage that have influenced the brand.

“People come to Inverroche to experience more than how gin is made,” says Scott. “They experience where it comes from: the landscape, the botanicals and the people behind it.”

The recognition comes as Inverroche continues its African By Nature journey, which celebrates the landscapes, people and botanicals that have shaped the brand since its beginnings in Stilbaai.
