The Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) is back for its 14th edition, running from 17–19 September 2025 at the Durban Exhibition Centre. More than just a celebration of style, DFF continues to be a platform that nurtures local talent, boosts entrepreneurship, and positions Durban as a hub for African fashion excellence.

Here are three highlights you can look forward to this year:

1. The Next Generation of Runway Stars

The DFF Class of 2025 Model Training and Bootcamp is already underway, preparing a fresh wave of aspiring models for the spotlight.

This year’s intake includes 24 participants:

  • 10 standard-size female models
  • 10 male models
  • 4 plus-size female models

Scouted during regional roadshows, these future runway stars are receiving intensive training from Durban-based models with over 18 years of experience. The programme covers everything from runway techniques and posing to model etiquette and fitness, ensuring they’re fully equipped to shine on one of the biggest fashion stages in the country.

2. A Vibrant Showcase of Fashion Talent

Expect a spectacular showcase of creativity as designers present bold new collections that reflect both cultural heritage and contemporary trends.

This programme forms part of the eThekwini Municipality Fashion Development Programme, which not only promotes artistic expression but also supports fashion as a vital driver of economic growth and job creation.

Councillor Thembo Ntuli explains:

“We invest in such programmes to create a pipeline of world-class talent and promote financial independence.”

For audiences, that translates into runway shows brimming with originality, innovation, and a celebration of African identity.

3. Connections and Collaborations

The Durban Fashion Fair is more than just a showcase – it’s a networking powerhouse. Designers, models, creatives, and brands all come together, opening doors to collaborations that can extend well beyond South Africa’s borders.

From partnerships between global brands and local designers, to unexpected collaborations like Nando’s with Galaxy Boy in past years, DFF proves that fashion thrives when creativity meets opportunity.

The event encourages attendees to adopt an “outside-the-box” mindset, using networking to spark ideas, drive innovation, and expand influence across industries.

Why Attend the Durban Fashion Fair 2025?

Whether you’re an aspiring model, a young designer, a fashion enthusiast, or simply someone who loves creativity, DFF 2025 promises glamour, inspiration, and opportunity. With a strong focus on mentorship, skill-building, and business development, this year’s fair reinforces its reputation as one of Africa’s premier fashion events.
