SAFTA-Nominated Chanley Wong Joins Expresso Morning Show

941

South Africa’s morning glow grows brighter as two time SAFTA nominated presenter Chanley Wong joins the iconic Expresso Morning Show on S3.

From 17 February 2026, she will broadcast live from the Johannesburg studio at Design Quarter in Fourways. She joins Zanele Potelwa, bringing energy, quick wit and authenticity to one of South Africa’s most loved breakfast shows.

A Full Circle Moment

For Wong, the move marks a career milestone.

“I am so excited to be joining the Expresso family. Stepping into the Expresso studio feels like the natural progression in my journey. After seven years away, returning to television feels both surreal and right,” she says.

Her connection to Expresso dates back to 2018 when she waited 12 hours at the Presenter Search on 3 auditions for an opportunity to join the show.

“A dream isn’t denied, it’s often delayed until you are ready.”

Years later, that moment has arrived.

From Benoni To Breakfast Television

Born and raised in Benoni, Wong has become a recognised face in youth and children’s television. She has built a strong reputation as a storyteller who connects across television, radio and digital platforms.

Beyond screen work, she is part of an on the ground team at a Johannesburg based radio station, staying closely connected to the stories shaping the city. Her cross platform experience strengthens her role on Expresso, known for culturally relevant and feel good storytelling.

A Strong Addition To The Expresso Lineup

Nischette Willemse, S3 Programme Manager, describes Wong as a phenomenal presenter whose storytelling aligns with the show’s uplifting focus.

Patience Stevens, Managing Director at Cardova TV, says Wong represents a new generation of presenters who move confidently between broadcast and digital while maintaining authentic audience connections.

Her appointment strengthens Expresso’s Johannesburg presence and reinforces its position as a national platform celebrating diverse voices and proudly South African stories.

Viewers can watch Expresso Morning Show weekdays from 6am to 9am on S3 and tune in for Wong’s debut on 17 February 2026.
