A powerful storm battering Cape Town has caused severe damage to the Animal Welfare Society of South Africa, flooding parts of its hospital facilities and destroying vital food supplies for rescue animals and vulnerable pets.
Heavy rain and strong winds swept through the organisation’s property overnight, leaving sections of its veterinary hospital and storage areas waterlogged as severe weather continues impacting the Western Cape.

“Our teams are exhausted, but we refuse to stop helping animals in need,” the organisation said in an urgent public appeal.

Emergency donations urgently needed
The organisation is now asking the public to assist with emergency relief efforts as ongoing rain and damp conditions continue creating challenges for animals in their care.
Urgently needed supplies include:

- towels
- feeding bowls
- cat litter trays
- cat litter
The society warned that keeping bedding dry has become increasingly difficult due to the ongoing wet weather.

Severe weather continues across the Western Cape
The appeal comes as severe weather continues causing disruption across Cape Town and surrounding areas.

The Animal Welfare Society says every donation will directly support animals affected by the disaster and help sustain rescue operations during the ongoing storm crisis.
