Betway SA20 Season 5 Fixtures Announced as Tournament Returns in January 2027

Cricket South Africa has officially announced the fixtures for the Betway SA20 Season 5 tournament, with the competition set to begin on Sunday, 17 January 2027 and conclude with the final on Sunday, 21 February 2027.

The opening match will take place at St George’s Park in Gqeberha, while the final will be played at Newlands in Cape Town.

Defending champions begin title defence

Season 5 gets underway with a repeat of the Season 4 final as defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape take on the Pretoria Capitals.

The fixture promises an exciting start to the new campaign as the two finalists renew their rivalry in Gqeberha.

Pretoria Capitals usher in a new era

The Pretoria Capitals will enter the new season under a revamped leadership team.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly takes over as head coach, while Proteas spinner Keshav Maharaj will captain the side during the 2027 tournament.

New playoff venues announced

Season 5 will also introduce a change to the playoff schedule.

For the first time, Boland Park in Paarl will host Qualifier 1, while the DP World Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg will stage both the Eliminator and Qualifier 2.

• Qualifier 1: Tuesday, 16 February 2027 – Boland Park, Paarl
• Eliminator: Wednesday, 17 February 2027 – DP World Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg
• Qualifier 2: Friday, 19 February 2027 – DP World Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg
• Final: Sunday, 21 February 2027 – Newlands, Cape Town
