Redberry Farm, situated just outside George on the Garden Route, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
What started in 2000 as a small strawberry field with a modest farm stall has grown into one of the Western Cape’s top family-friendly destinations, welcoming both local and international visitors.
This family-owned business began in 2000 with just a small strawberry field and a farm stall that opened to the public a few days a week.
Today, Redberry Farm offers a wide variety of activities for all ages. Visitors can enjoy strawberry picking throughout the year, explore several play areas, and take part in family-friendly attractions like electric and pedal go-karts, bumper boats, bubble ball fun, and pony rides.
In 2008, a 600-meter miniature train track was introduced, offering a scenic ride that includes a tunnel.

A major highlight is the Maze, officially the largest hedge maze in the Southern Hemisphere. Opened in 2013, the maze spans over 10 kilometres of pathways. It features eight hidden stations where visitors collect stamps and a 25-meter underground tunnel.
Another iconic feature is the World’s Largest Strawberry, standing 14,4 metres high and 8,5 metres in diameter. Impossible to miss, it has quickly become one of the most photographed landmarks on the farm.
Bounty Eatery
Inside, visitors can climb a spiral staircase to the top, with colourful displays and videos along the way that share the story of strawberries.
Visitors can also enjoy a range of food and shopping experiences on-site. Bounty Eatery serves gourmet farm style food, while The Noshery offers wood-fired pizzas, at Boplaas, guests can sample a selection of wines and enjoy tastings of gin, whisky, and brandy.
Those with a sweet tooth can indulge at Framboos, known for its gelato, waffles, and Dutch-style poffertjes. The Farm Stall is the heart of the farm stocked with delicious products and goods from local suppliers.
Berry Boutique offers a carefully selected range of lifestyle products — including clothing for women, men, children, and babies, as well as home décor, skincare items, and accessories.
Special Events
In addition to daily activities, Redberry Farm hosts special events throughout the year, including a monthly trail run, the moonlight maze, and the annual Strawberry Market in October. These events attract visitors from near and far and add to the farm’s lively atmosphere throughout the seasons.
Redberry Farm is not only a tourism destination — it’s also a productive agricultural farm. Strawberries grown on the farm are exported to the Middle East and Europe, and the introduction of golden kiwis in 2018 has helped create a more sustainable, year-round business model.
As it marks this anniversary, Redberry Farm continues to welcome new and returning guests to experience what it has to offer. Whether for a quick visit or a full day out, it remains a place where people come together to enjoy the outdoors, pick strawberries, and spend time with those they care about.
