Ndlovu Choir and Queen’s Roger Taylor submitted for two GRAMMY® Awards

216

In a massive milestone for South African music, the Ndlovu Choir (formerly the Ndlovu Youth Choir) has joined forces with legendary Queen drummer Roger Taylor on his soaring summer anthem, “Come On Summer (It’s Party Time)”. The high-energy collaboration has now officially been entered for 2027 GRAMMY® Award consideration in two major rock categories:

  • Best Rock Song
  • Best Rock Performance

The track serves as the lead single from Roger Taylor’s 2026 album, Violence Insane In A Beautiful World. Featuring the Limpopo-born collective as prominent collaborators, the single merges classic British rock grooves with the choir’s signature vocal power and vibrant isiZulu harmonies, driving the song’s uplifting, anthemic spirit.

Global recognition and high-profile collaboration

This GRAMMY consideration provides another major boost to the Ndlovu Choir’s burgeoning international profile, introducing the Limpopo collective to millions of Queen fans, classic rock enthusiasts, and the global recording academy audience.

“Working with Roger Taylor has been such a special experience for all of us, and something we’ll remember for a long time,” says Ndlovu Choir founder and conductor Ralf Schmitt. “Having our song entered for two GRAMMY® Awards is incredibly exciting, and we’re just so proud to be part of it.”

The lyric video showcases the choir’s rich, layered harmonies backing Taylor’s vocals [00:25] and features celebratory isiZulu lines like “Liphumil’ ilanga ngizalwe kabusha” (“The sun is up and I am reborn”) [00:42], underscoring the dynamic cross-cultural energy of the track.
