Mario to headline Pretoria R&B concert with Dru Hill and Silk

R&B star Mario is coming to South Africa in 2027, joining Dru Hill and Silk for the inaugural We Love R&B Concert Experience in Pretoria.

The multi-platinum-selling artist and two-time Grammy nominee has been confirmed as the headliner for the concert at SunBet Arena at Time Square, Menlyn, on Saturday, 22 May 2027.

Presented by Remoakantse Holdings, the show will bring together three major R&B acts for a night built around some of the genre’s most recognisable songs.

Mario is coming to Pretoria

Mario has built a career spanning more than two decades and is known for hits including Let Me Love You, Just a Friend 2002, How Do I Breathe, Crying Out for Me and Music for Love.

His addition follows the earlier announcement that Dru Hill and Silk would perform at the Pretoria concert.

“We said there was another major announcement coming, and we are thrilled that we can finally share it. Mario is an incredible artist with a catalogue that has travelled across generations, and having him headline alongside Dru Hill and Silk is exactly the kind of R&B experience we wanted to bring to Pretoria,” says Remoakantse Holdings managing director Thabiso Mogashwa.

The announcement completes a line-up bringing together artists whose music spans different eras of R&B.

Dru Hill and Silk were previously confirmed for the We Love R&B Concert Experience, with Mario now taking the headline spot.

“These are multi-platinum-selling artists whose music people know, love and have grown up with. We are incredibly excited to bring them together on one stage and give South African fans the opportunity to experience these songs live. This is going to be a very special night.”

With all three acts now confirmed, the concert will combine nostalgia with live performances of songs that have remained part of the R&B landscape across generations.
