UD Trucks expands Eastern Cape network with new Komani dealership

UD Trucks Southern Africa has expanded its Eastern Cape dealer network with the opening of UD Trucks Komani, giving transport operators in the region greater access to vehicle sales, parts, workshop services and technical support.

The dealership officially opened on 1 October 2026 and is operated by Jacksons, a commercial vehicle business that has been part of the local community for almost a century.

Jacksons dates back to 1927 and will celebrate its centenary in 2027, bringing decades of regional commercial vehicle experience to its new partnership with UD Trucks.

Nearly 100 years of business in Komani

Mark and Lucy Wilson acquired Jacksons in 1990, with the business moving to its current facility in Sprigg Street in 1994.

Over the years, it has built relationships with commercial vehicle customers across Komani and the surrounding region.

UD Trucks Southern Africa Managing Director Filip Van den Heede said that local experience was an important part of the partnership.

“Our dealer network is a critical part of delivering the UD Trucks customer experience. Adding UD Trucks Komani gives us an opportunity to strengthen our support for customers in the Eastern Cape while partnering with a business that has deep roots in the local market. Jacksons brings valuable commercial vehicle experience and a strong understanding of its customers, and we look forward to building on that foundation together.”

The addition of the dealership expands UD Trucks’ reach in the Eastern Cape while providing existing customers with another local point of access to aftersales support.

What UD Trucks Komani will offer customers

UD Trucks Komani will support customers throughout the ownership journey, including:

  • Vehicle sales
  • Parts
  • Workshop services
  • Technical support
  • Customer bookings and administration

The dealership will also introduce transport operators in the region to UD Trucks’ range of transport solutions.

For fleet and transport operators, the aim is to provide local access to the technical expertise, parts and support required to keep vehicles productive.

Marle Visagie, General Manager: Retail and Competence Development at UD Trucks Southern Africa, said Jacksons’ existing relationships in the region were an important advantage.

“What stood out for us about Jacksons is the depth of experience and the relationships they have built in the region over many years. This is exactly the type of partnership we want within the UD Trucks network. Our focus is not simply on adding another dealership, but on ensuring that customers have access to a capable, committed team that understands their businesses and can support them throughout the ownership journey.”

Experienced team leads new UD Trucks dealership

UD Trucks Komani will have dedicated teams covering sales, workshop operations and administration.

Workshop Manager Johan Pelser leads the workshop, supported by Fana, a Master UD Trucks Technician, as well as Ruan, Martin and Richard.

Liezel, Chante and Ilze will handle bookings, administration and general customer enquiries.

Dealer Principal Patrick Casey leads the sales team, supported by Vera Lieberum, Ayanda Dumezweni and Sbongile Mathebula.

The team will work with transport operators across Komani and surrounding areas to understand their operational requirements and match them with appropriate UD Trucks products and support.

Jacksons begins its next chapter

Beyond its commercial vehicle operations, Jacksons has developed longstanding relationships within the Komani community and supported various community initiatives over the decades.

The UD Trucks franchise now marks the next stage for the business as it approaches its 100th anniversary.

Its immediate focus will be on providing existing UD Trucks customers in the region with a dedicated local point of contact while building relationships with more fleet and transport operators.

Jacksons owners Mark and Lucy Wilson said:

“We are extremely excited to begin this new chapter with UD Trucks. Jacksons has been part of the Komani community for generations, and we are proud to bring the UD Trucks brand to the region. Our team is ready to welcome customers and build on the relationships we have developed over many years, while delivering the level of service and support our customers have come to expect from Jacksons.”

UD Trucks Southern Africa says the dealership forms part of its focus on delivering Ultimate Dependability through transport solutions and ongoing customer support.
