Manchester United are reportedly close to reaching a full agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion for midfielder Carlos Baleba.
The 22-year-old Cameroon international has agreed personal terms on a five-year contract and is keen to join United.
Club-to-club negotiations have entered their final stages, with both sides working to settle the final fee structure.
United Submit £65 Million Package
Manchester United have submitted an opening offer worth £60 million plus £5 million in add-ons.
Brighton demanded more than £100 million for Baleba last summer. His valuation has since fallen following an uneven 2025/26 season under Fabian Hürzeler.
The transfer is expected to progress soon, with Baleba preparing to travel to Manchester for a medical once the clubs reach an agreement.
Baleba’s Role Under Michael Carrick
Baleba would become Michael Carrick’s third midfield signing of the summer if the transfer goes through.
United have already signed Youri Tielemans for £35 million and Andrey Santos for £48 million.
Carrick plans to use Baleba as a box-to-box midfielder or specialist defensive number six. He would partner Tielemans and add greater physical strength to United’s midfield pairing.
Final Fee Still Under Discussion
Baleba has completed his side of the negotiations by agreeing personal terms, but Manchester United and Brighton still need to finalise the transfer fee.
United’s £65 million package represents a major reduction on Brighton’s valuation from last summer.
