A heartfelt welcome and reception for Engelbert Humperdinck at the British Embassy

In an enjoyable run-up to his highly anticipated ‘The Last Waltz’ Farewell Tour in South Africa, international super-star Engelbert Humperdinck and his daughter, Louise enjoyed a wonderful reception with British Deputy High Commissioner, Adam Bye, at his residence in Pretoria, on Thursday, 11 July.

With a career spanning over five decades The King of Romance, that is Engelbert Humperdinck, has touched the hearts of millions with classic songs like “Release Me,” “The Last Waltz,” “A Man Without Love,” “Quando”, ”Spanish Eyes” and ”After The Lovin”.  His unique voice and charm have made him a beloved figure in the music industry earning him fans from all corners of the globe.

During the visit Mr Humperdinck shared fascinating stories from his career, including some lesser-known tales that highlighted his incredible journey, spanning over 5 decades, in the music world.  The meeting with the High Commissioner was a warm and engaging affair celebrating Mr Humperdinck’s enduring legacy and contributions to British music and culture. 

Mr Humperdinck expressed his excitement at being in South Africa again: “I’ve always loved visiting your beautiful country – the audiences are just so wonderful and I look forward to performing old favourites and some new songs, giving them an enjoyable trip down memory lane.  I will forever keep the people of South Africa in my heart and prayers.”

Deputy High Commissioner  Bye remarked, “It was a pleasure to have Engelbert Humperdinck visit us.  His stories and experiences are a testament to his remarkable career and his influence on the music industry. We are honoured to celebrate his achievements and wish him all the best for his tour around South Africa.”

Engelbert Humperdinck’s ‘The Last Waltz’ Farewell tour promises to be an unforgettable experience for fans old and new. This tour marks a nostalgic moment in his career, as he graces the stage with the same elegance and style that have defined his performances for years.

The show in Cape Town on Sunday, 14 July at GrandWest is sold out, but a few tickets are still up for grabs for the show at the SunBet Arena, Time Square Casino in Pretoria on Friday, 12 July at 20h00.   Fans can purchase tickets now via WEBTICKETS.
