5FM has revealed its refreshed 2026 on-air line-up, introducing new voices, stronger weekend programming and a sharper focus on youth culture. The update strengthens the station’s role as a leading platform for young South Africans, blending music, conversation and digital-first content.
The new schedule reflects a clear shift. Radio now works alongside social media, creator content and real-time trends. The aim is simple. Stay relevant to how young audiences live, think and engage every day.
New Voices Take Centre Stage
Weekday mornings now feature Karabo Ntshweng hosting 5 Mid Mornings. The show runs from 09:00 to 12:00 and focuses on the realities of young professionals and students. Expect conversations around career growth, wellness and everyday challenges, alongside high-energy music and audience interaction.
Midday programming sees Lula Odiba and Nadia Romanos take over 5 Lunch. A key addition is the 5 Listening Sessions, where top local artists perform live in studio, share new releases and give insight into their journeys.
Weeknights and Weekends Get a Refresh
Weeknights have been reworked with Jodell Tantij leading 5 Nights from 19:00 to 22:00. The show centres on music discovery and youth-driven conversations. A new segment, PH & Friends, brings DJ PH into the mix for exclusive sets and guest appearances.
Late nights continue with Boipelo Mooketsi on 5 After Hours from 22:00 to 01:00. The show blends trending topics with music, creating a space that balances discussion and entertainment.
Fridays set the tone for the weekend with Party with PH, while Taste Champagne leads Taste the Weekend on Saturday and Sunday nights, delivering high-energy mixes for late-night listeners.
Sundays also see the launch of The Sunday Social Club with Harrison Mkhize. The show offers a weekly wrap of trends, music, creators and digital culture, turning social media conversations into a radio experience.
A Platform Built for Youth Culture
According to Masi Mdingane, Business Manager for 5FM and Good Hope FM, the new line-up reflects a broader strategy. The station aims to expand its digital reach while keeping radio at the centre of youth conversations.
The update focuses on three areas. Elevating new voices. Strengthening audience connection. Expanding beyond traditional radio into digital spaces.
Honouring the Past While Moving Forward
The station also acknowledged key contributors including Roger Goode, Stephanie Be and Leah Jazz. Their impact helped shape the brand, and 5FM thanked them as they move on to new roles, some within the South African Broadcasting Corporation.
What This Means for Listeners
The 2026 line-up signals a more connected, fast-moving radio experience.
Listeners get:
- More live music and artist access
- Stronger focus on youth issues and culture
- Seamless link between radio and digital content
The message is clear. 5FM is not changing direction. It is sharpening its edge.
