Zoë Modiga to Perform at Swartberg Pass for Journey to Jazz 2026

685

Zoë Modiga will deliver a sunset performance at Swartberg Pass as part of the Journey to Jazz Festival on Friday, 1 May 2026. The performance is set to be one of the defining moments of this year’s programme.

A performance shaped by place

Known for her expressive and contemporary African sound, Modiga blends storytelling, heritage and emotional depth in her music. Her style aligns naturally with the dramatic setting of the Swartberg Mountains, creating a performance rooted in both place and identity.

Reflecting on the upcoming show, she plans to deliver an acoustic set that connects the audience with the landscape. As the Karoo sun sets, her voice will carry across the mountains in a moment designed to feel both intimate and expansive.

Music meets landscape

This site-specific performance reflects the festival’s approach of pairing music with location to create immersive, once-off experiences. The natural setting becomes part of the performance, shaping how audiences hear and feel the music.

Expanded programme and new venue

Organisers have confirmed that the collaboration between Kyle Shepherd and Kentridge Films will move to a larger venue due to strong demand.

The performance will take place at the NG Kerk Prince Albert on Saturday, 2 May 2026 at 20:45 and will feature the world premiere of a newly commissioned score.

A festival with purpose

Presented by the Prince Albert Community Trust, the festival continues to combine artistic excellence with social impact. Proceeds support youth development initiatives in the region.

Journey to Jazz Festival 2026 runs from 30 April to 3 May. Tickets are available via Quicket.
