Western Cape weather: Sunny start to the week before rain returns

The Western Cape is set for a mild start to the week, with sunny skies and daytime temperatures climbing into the mid-20s before cooler, wetter conditions return later this week.

Following an exceptionally dry July, residents can expect pleasant winter weather over the next few days before a cold front brings increased cloud cover and the chance of showers from Thursday.

Warm and sunny conditions continue

Monday starts with mostly cloudy to sunny conditions across much of the province, with daytime temperatures reaching between 24°C and 26°C and overnight lows dropping to around 9°C.

Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to remain warm for winter, with highs of 24°C under clear to partly cloudy skies.

Cooler weather on the way

The weather is expected to change on Thursday as temperatures fall to around 17°C, with increasing cloud cover and the possibility of showers moving into parts of the province.

By Friday, sunshine is expected to return, although cooler conditions will remain with a high of around 18°C and a low of 8°C.

The recent stretch of dry weather follows one of the driest Julys on record, driven by a persistent Atlantic high-pressure system. While the first half of the week remains favourable for outdoor activities, residents should prepare for cooler and potentially wetter conditions from Thursday onwards.
