The masks are back, the mystery is bigger, and the surprises are set to be more spectacular than ever.

After two successful seasons filled with shocking celebrity reveals and unforgettable performances, The Masked Singer South Africa is returning for a third season, this time on its new home, SABC 2.

The new season premieres on Saturday, 4 July 2026 at 19:00 and promises more elaborate costumes, bigger clues, larger-than-life characters and even more jaw-dropping reveals.

Bigger Performances, Bigger Mysteries

Season 3 will feature 16 South African celebrities competing behind extravagant masks, hoping to keep their identities hidden while impressing audiences with their performances.

As always, viewers will be left asking the show’s biggest question: Who is behind the mask?

Producers Rose and Oaks Media and Primedia Studios promise the biggest season yet, with larger productions, more clues and some of the country’s most recognisable stars hiding in plain sight.

“Expect the wow factor that made The Masked Singer South Africa the talk of the town, but multiply it by at least three. It’s going to be wild,” said Anele Mdoda, co-founder and CEO of Rose and Oaks Media.

“You won’t believe your eyes when the personalities behind the masks are revealed. We’re talking mega stars.”

Familiar Faces Return

Returning to host the series is Mpho Popps, whose humour and quick wit have become a key part of the show’s success.

Joining him once again are celebrity detectives:

  • Somizi Mhlongo
  • Skhumba Hlophe
  • J’Something
  • Sithelo Shozi

The panel will once again attempt to decode clues and uncover the identities hidden beneath the elaborate costumes.

Previous Winners and Celebrity Reveals

The show has already delivered some memorable victories.

Season 1 was won by Holly Rey, who performed as Lollipop, while Season 2 crowned Warren Masemola as champion with his popular Giraffe character.

Previous seasons have also featured surprise appearances from well-known South Africans, including:

  • Dricus du Plessis
  • Shudufhadzo Musida
  • Doctor Khumalo
  • Victor Matfield
  • Devi Sankaree Govender
  • Maps Maponyane
  • Boity Thulo
  • Jessica Nkosi

With such a strong track record of celebrity surprises, anticipation is high for the Season 3 line-up.

New Home on SABC 2

According to Robyn Verweij, the move to SABC 2 positions the show to reach an even wider audience.

“With The Masked Singer South Africa’s irresistibly entertaining format, high-profile personalities and proven ability to captivate viewers of all ages, SABC 2 is the perfect home for Season 3,” she said.

The season also sees the return of title sponsor Andolex®, alongside new sponsors King Pie and Mentos.
