The countdown is on for the return of The Masked Singer South Africa, with the hit entertainment show set to premiere its third season on Saturday, 4 July at 19:00 on its new home, SABC 2.
Ahead of the launch, viewers have been given their first look at some of the mysterious characters who will have South Africans guessing which celebrities are hiding behind the elaborate costumes.
Meet the first eight Masks
This season’s first revealed characters are:
- Leopard
- Spotty
- Mosquito
- Lady Monster
- Pineapple
- Spinach
- Protea
- Koeksister



Each Mask comes with its own unique personality designed to keep viewers and the celebrity detective panel guessing.
Leopard is described as confident, cool under pressure and always ready to make a grand entrance.
Spotty is playful, friendly and thrives in the spotlight, while Mosquito is a bold entertainer who loves grabbing everyone’s attention.
Lady Monster may sound intimidating, but is said to have a larger-than-life personality and a flair for stealing the show.
Spinach isn’t afraid of controversy and always proves the doubters wrong, while Pineapple lets the music do the talking with a voice that leaves fans swooning.
Representing South Africa’s national flower, Protea is elegant, resilient and impossible to ignore.
Koeksister, inspired by the iconic South African treat, is witty, mysterious and always keeps people guessing.




The detectives return
The celebrity detective panel returns with familiar faces:
- Somizi Mhlongo
- J’Something
- Sithelo Shozi
- Skhumba
They will once again attempt to uncover the identities of the 16 A-list celebrities competing behind the masks.
Host Mpho Popps also returns to guide viewers through the mystery-filled competition, while several well-known guest detectives will make appearances throughout the season.
Every clue matters
As with previous seasons, clues will be hidden throughout every performance.
From costume details and song choices to dance moves and interactions with the Men and Ladies in Black, every moment has been designed to help viewers solve the mystery before the big reveal.
The Masked Singer South Africa Season 3 premieres on Saturday, 4 July at 19:00 on SABC 2.
