A series of Candlelight events has been taking place around the world, including South Africa. These concerts offer a unique musical experience set in softly lit spaces filled with candles.

The result is an atmosphere of calm, intimacy and emotional connection through music. Now, the experience returns with a romantic edition created especially for Valentine’s Day.

A Valentine’s Day Concert in the Winelands

Candlelight is bringing a romantic concert to Paarl to celebrate Valentine’s Day at Cathedral Cellar on Saturday, 14 February. The event is designed for couples and families looking for a meaningful way to spend the evening together.

A Soundtrack of Love

A live string quartet will perform a selection of timeless love songs and iconic film themes, including Can’t Help Falling in Love and My Heart Will Go On. These are songs that carry deep emotional resonance and create a shared sense of nostalgia and connection.

A Global Experience Loved by Local Audiences

The Candlelight series has been warmly embraced by audiences across the globe. I attended one of these concerts in Cape Town in 2022, and the experience was deeply moving and memorable.

The format has since travelled to other South African cities, with performances hosted in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Durban.

An Intimate and Immersive Evening

This Paarl edition offers a memorable way to celebrate Valentine’s Day in a candlelit setting that feels both intimate and immersive. The focus is on live music, atmosphere and togetherness, with performances delivered by talented local musicians in a beautifully curated environment.
