Radio Raps Revealed as King Pie on The Masked Singer South Africa

King Pie kept The Masked Singer South Africa detectives guessing for weeks before losing his crown during this week’s episode.

Behind the pastry-themed Mask was comedian, musician and entrepreneur Rikus de Beer, better known as Radio Raps.

De Beer first gained attention through his quick-witted alter ego, Jonathan, before expanding his comedy career across theatres, television, film and digital platforms.

Five Masked Performers Take the Stage

Leopard, Chopsticks, Mosquito, Spotty and King Pie each delivered solo performances during the episode.

A mystery friend or family member also provided additional clues about each performer, giving the detectives more information to consider.

King Pie performed Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the U.S.A.” before revealing a fresh collection of cryptic hints.

“I may be rolling around in my royal mantle,” he teased, “but a cape and a Kryptonite allergy shaped me.”

He also suggested that, in another life, he might have played sport and led a team to victory.

Sporting and Business Clues Confuse the Panel

A choir formation accompanied another clue, with King Pie saying he had once been “a silent voice” but now led “the best in the world”.

His final hint suggested the biggest surprise would be learning there was a singer hidden inside him.

King Pie’s mystery confidante said the celebrity had “traded his jersey dreams for the ledger” and mastered entrepreneurship.

Detectives Name Their Final Suspects

The clues led Somizi Mhlongo, J’Something, Sithelo Shozi and Skhumba towards several sporting and entertainment figures.

J’Something connected the castle and sporting references to cricket. He selected international cricket star AB de Villiers.

Somizi chose kwaito musician Kabelo Mabalane.

Sithelo changed her previous guess of comedian Darren Maule and selected singer and producer Ruan Josh.

Skhumba focused on the sporting clues and named former Springbok assistant coach Mzwandile Stick.

King Pie Lands in the Danger Zone

The audience vote placed King Pie, Chopsticks and Leopard in the Danger Zone.

The detectives saved Chopsticks, leaving King Pie and Leopard at risk of elimination.

When King Pie was eventually dethroned, the detectives submitted their final guesses. None identified the celebrity behind the Mask.

The panel reacted with shock when Rikus de Beer appeared.

“I think I’m in the wrong show,” Skhumba joked, having once again failed to recognise another comedian.

Rikus de Beer Reflects on the Costume

De Beer said he enjoyed performing as King Pie despite the costume’s size.

“It was like wearing a caravan,” he laughed, adding that he had always wanted to be in a pie.

He also revealed that King Pie was a pepper steak pie, his favourite.
