South African pop and R&B star Paxton is turning the page on a new chapter with the release of her latest single, It’s Over, an uplifting anthem about self-worth, healing and finding the strength to walk away from unhealthy relationships.

The new release sees the Idols South Africa winner blend polished pop with R&B, amapiano and subtle house influences, delivering a fresh sound that reflects both her musical growth and evolution as a songwriter.

A song about choosing yourself

While It’s Over centres on the end of a relationship, Paxton says the song is ultimately about personal growth and emotional freedom.

Rather than focusing on heartbreak, the track celebrates the moment when clarity replaces emotional attachment and choosing peace becomes more important than holding on.

With infectious production and an empowering message, the single encourages listeners to embrace resilience, self-worth and the confidence to move forward.

A new chapter for Paxton

Born in Bishop Lavis, Cape Town, Paxton first captured South Africa’s attention when she won Season 13 of Idols South Africa at just 17 years old.

Since then, she has built a successful career, earning recognition for her powerful vocals, honest songwriting and ability to blend multiple genres into her own distinctive sound.

For the singer, It’s Over marks an important moment in both her personal life and artistic journey.

“‘It’s Over’ closes the journey of my early twenties after exploring love in all its forms,” she says.

“This EP is my most honest work, where vulnerability and growth come together with fearless feeling. Blending pop, R&B, amapiano and subtle house elements, it creates a rich soundscape that invites listeners to feel deeply, grow fully and reconnect with their truest selves.”

Looking ahead

The single offers fans a glimpse into a broader collection of music inspired by the lessons, heartbreak and self-discovery that have shaped Paxton over the past few years.

Although the songs acknowledge endings and difficult moments, they ultimately celebrate hope, renewal and embracing the future with confidence.

With It’s Over, Paxton continues to establish herself as one of South Africa’s leading contemporary pop artists, proving that vulnerability and strength often go hand in hand.

It’s Over is now available on all major streaming platforms.
