Enjoy these classic movies for just R50 at select Ster-Kinekor cinemas.

As the season of love approaches, Ster-Kinekor is keeping romance alive with its Throwback Cinema promotion. For just R50 per ticket, you and your loved one can cosy up to some timeless romantic classics on the big screen throughout February.

“Bringing back popular movie titles from years gone by is proving to be a popular must-see-again option for our big screen fans,” says Lynne Wylie, Chief Marketing Officer at Ster-Kinekor Theatres. “With the discounted ticket price for these Throwback Cinema titles, what’s not to love in this month of love! The February line-up includes some special Valentine-focused titles, either as repeat viewing or for a first-time big screen experience.”

The romantic journey kicks off on 7 February with 10 Things I Hate About You. This 1999 coming-of-age comedy, inspired by Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, follows the chaotic antics of a high-school boy, Cameron, as he tries to win over Bianca by setting up her unapproachable sister, Kat, with the enigmatic Patrick. Starring Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, it’s a classic you’ll love reliving.

Next up, on 14 February, Valentine’s Day itself, is the hilariously heart-warming The Proposal. When Margaret, a high-powered editor (Sandra Bullock), faces deportation, she ropes in her assistant, Andrew (Ryan Reynolds), for a fake engagement. Their plan takes an unexpected turn when a trip to his family home brings out all the feels.

On 21 February, While You Were Sleeping hits the screens. This 1995 rom-com stars Sandra Bullock as Lucy, a Chicago Transit ticket operator who saves a man’s life and is mistaken for his fiancée. What follows is a tangled web of emotions, including sparks flying with the man’s brother!

The month rounds off with Sweet Home Alabama on 28 February. Reese Witherspoon shines as a New York socialite returning to her small-town roots to finalise a divorce—only to rediscover herself and her true love.

These heartwarming tales will screen at select Ster-Kinekor cinemas across the country, including Sandton, Rosebank Nouveau, and Gateway. So, whether it’s a nostalgic revisit or your first time seeing these classics on the big screen, don’t miss out!
