Mitsubishi expands Triton range with new Bi-Turbo model for 2026

Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has expanded its Triton line-up for 2026 with the introduction of the all-new Triton Bi-Turbo and a refreshed Triton GLS, offering more power, updated technology and a bolder design.

Developed specifically for the South African market, the new additions are designed to meet growing demand for bakkies that combine work-ready capability with modern comfort and advanced safety features.

New Triton Bi-Turbo delivers more power

The new Triton Bi-Turbo is powered by a revised 2.4-litre 4N16 Bi-Turbo diesel engine producing 150kW and 470Nm.

The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and Mitsubishi’s Super Select II four-wheel-drive system, delivering stronger performance while maintaining the Triton’s off-road capability.

Lerato Nonyane, General Manager: Product & Marketing at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa, says the latest addition reflects changing customer expectations.

“The South African bakkie customer continues to evolve, with buyers expecting more than ever before. Today’s customers demand capability, bold styling, advanced technology, comfort and outstanding value,” says Nonyane.

Sportier styling inside and out

The Triton Bi-Turbo introduces several exterior upgrades, including:

• Roof rails
• Styling bar
• Heated mirrors
• Assisted tailgate

Inside, the cabin has been upgraded with:

• Synthetic leather and suede-trimmed seats
• Dual-zone climate control
• Nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system
• Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Seven-inch digital driver’s display
• Six-speaker audio system

Safety technology upgraded

The new model also benefits from Mitsubishi’s Safety Sensing Suite, which includes:

• Adaptive Cruise Control
• Forward Collision Mitigation
• Blind Spot Warning
• Rear Cross Traffic Alert
• Lane Departure Warning
• Multi Around Monitor System

Triton GLS receives refreshed styling

The updated Triton GLS models feature a more rugged appearance thanks to new black exterior accents.

Updates include:

• Redesigned alloy wheels
• Black mirrors
• Black bumpers
• Black door handles

According to Mitsubishi, these styling enhancements come without a price increase.

“The updated Triton range, spearheaded by the new Bi-Turbo, delivers on every one of these expectations,” says Nonyane.

The Triton continues to offer a one-tonne payload and 3.5-tonne towing capacity, making it suitable for both commercial use and outdoor adventures.
