Hotel Built-in Boutique Celebrating African Creativity

813

The refurbished boutique in Cape Town was recently unveiled at Mount Nelson Hotel celebrating local talent, sustainable design, as well as the hotel’s enduring spirit of innovation. The boutique presents a curated edit of locally-made treasures from the continent’s most exciting brands and designers, as it continues to champion African creatives and sustainable luxury.

“We wanted to curate the diversity of South African talents, each in their field: some have been using ancestral crafting techniques, some have been influenced by tribal patterns, others are combining modern design with tradition,” says Celia de Carmoy, Belmond’s Global Retail and Merchandising Director. “We are paying tribute to the incredible designers, artists and craftsmen the country has to offer, for our guests and visitors to be able to bring a piece of the destination home.”

“For us, the boutique is about creating a space of discovery”, says Quintin Smit, Retail Manager at Mount Nelson. “Every piece has a story. They’re rooted in South Africa, crafted with care and intention, and chosen to reflect the soul of The Nellie. We want guests to feel that connection to place the moment they step inside.”

From items designed exclusively with Mount Nelson, to pieces that already capture the essence of its charm, the boutique will carry design from some of South African most sought-after brands. The hotel is all about supporting the creative talent from the South African soil, even with their annual Confections x Collections (CxC) fashion show.

The Marly also has a new boutique called The Cole that recently launched. The boutique is situated at Sea Point in the Marly Hotel, under Kove Collection, which houses some of the best restaurants in Cape Town; The Nines., Bilboa, The Bungalow, Sonny and Irene, Bobo’s, Zenzero, Paranga etc. The Cole will stock 24 designer resort wear and accessory brands while the Urban Spa around will include a sauna, cold plunge pool and treatment rooms. Just to ease the customer after their purchase. Boutiques have been a thing, more especially for travellers and people who aren’t really fond of going to the malls. Travellers, we have given you a shopping save.
