ANGELINA JOLIE ON HER MENTAL HEALTH AND FASHION BRAND

1.5k

It’s not every day you get to see a purpose-driven fashion brand come up, but Angelina Jolie has done it. With her fashion brand, Atelier Jolie that came up this year, Angelina opens up about her mental health struggles through this line, and that’s what makes it more impactful.

She considers working with her brand, which revolves around repairing, upcycling and revitalizing clothes, a huge help towards a more sustained therapeutic future. ‘I think part of this has also been therapeutic for me- to work in a creative space with people you trust and to rediscover yourself.” she told Vogue. “I’m hoping to change many aspects of my life, and this is the forward facing one.”

Mental health is a very vast and sensitive issue, we have also seen former Miss South Africa, Shudufhazo Muzida, center her crown and projects around mental health. The current Miss South Africa, Natasha Joubert mentioned that, after Miss Universe, she invested in herself more mentally because she was not in a great mental state.

One thing that celebrities always mention is that they are still human and normal, and that they are not prone to mental health issues and other bad things people go through. Just because they are in the limelight, and they have what is perceived to be success doesn’t mean that they don’t get to question their purpose, their worth, and if they are doing enough and on the right path.

“I remember one of the most upsetting times in my life was after I had attained success, financial stability and I was in love, and I thought, ‘I have everything that they say you should have to be happy but I’m not happy,’” she told ABC News in 2003.

It’s all too easy for us to look at Angelina Jolie and assume she has every ounce of happiness, joy and self-confidence in the world. Surely, we all have something going on that we are trying to overcome. It may not necessarily be a mental health issue, but we are here to remind you to be kind to yourself and take it easy. Enjoy what you have and the things people consider little. Take care of your soul, your spirit, your body, and mostly your mental health.
