If you are heading out on Thursday, expect difficult weather conditions.

South African Weather Service has issued a warning for severe thunderstorms across Gauteng as a strong weather system moves through the province.

Conditions are set to shift quickly.

  • widespread rain across the province
  • a sharp drop in temperatures
  • risk of thunderstorms with hail and strong winds

Daytime temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-teens, with colder conditions overnight.

A Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued.

  • heavy downpours
  • excessive lightning
  • damaging winds
  • localised flooding

Low-lying areas and major roads are most at risk.
