GALXBOY opens a new chapter with the launch of its first sneaker collection. The GBX 012 Trainer and GBX 012 Runner mark the brand’s official entry into footwear, expanding its footprint in South African streetwear and contemporary design.
A new category for a leading streetwear brand
The launch signals a strategic shift for GALXBOY as it broadens its product offering beyond apparel. Years in development, the sneaker range was designed to reflect the brand’s cultural roots while meeting global design standards.
The project brought together the wider GALXBOY team and UK-based creative footwear designer Andrew Turner in a cross-continental collaboration.
Founder Thatiso Dube describes the partnership as aligned from the start.
“This project felt like a divinely aligned partnership from the very beginning. Our vision was to create something exceptional, a sneaker that embodies culture, craftsmanship and innovation. Andrew brought international expertise and global perspective to the collaboration, and together we’re proud to introduce our first two sneaker offerings.”
Designed in South Africa, built for the world
The design journey focused on authenticity. The goal was to create footwear rooted in South African heritage while appealing to a global market. The result is a technically refined collection that balances bold identity with performance-driven design.
GBX 012 Trainer: Refined cupsole construction

The GBX 012 Trainer features a cupsole silhouette that reflects GALXBOY’s evolving design language. A seamless quarter panel construction creates a clean, elevated aesthetic.
The design required technical precision to achieve a smooth finish without visible disruption across panels. The final product delivers a premium trainer suited to everyday wear while retaining a strong visual identity.
GBX 012 Runner: Performance-driven refinement
The GBX 012 Runner introduces a performance-inspired silhouette to the range. Early concepts featured a sleeker midsole, but wear testing led to adjustments to prevent bulk and improve balance.
The midsole tooling was refined to create a streamlined profile while maintaining comfort and durability. Designers reworked the heel construction to increase ground contact and improve resistance to heavier wear.
Andrew Turner reflects on the collaboration.
“Having worked with global brands across my career, being part of this collaboration was energising. The original sketches were already strong in vision. The final stage involved refining details and overcoming construction challenges. The finished designs are iconic.”

Carrying South African youth culture forward
The GBX 012 Trainer and GBX 012 Runner represent the next phase of GALXBOY’s growth. The collection channels modern South African youth culture into a new product category, reinforcing the brand’s influence in street fashion.
The GBX 012 sneaker range is available at GALXBOY stores nationwide and online through the brand’s official platform.
Looking ahead to 2026
GALXBOY’s 2026 roadmap includes new collaborations, expanded product categories, and further cultural moments aimed at strengthening the brand’s global positioning.
With its first sneaker drop, GALXBOY signals long-term ambition in footwear. The move positions the brand as a multi-category streetwear force rooted in South African identity.
