Pretoria, South Africa – 13 November 2025

Foton South Africa proudly announces the official launch of the Foton Tunland V-Series, introducing the rugged and refined Tunland V7 and Tunland V9 to the local market. The highly anticipated event was held at CMH Foton Silver Lakes, marking a bold new chapter for the brand’s growing footprint in South Africa and across the continent.

The launch of the V-Series is more than just a vehicle introduction – it’s a statement. It represents Foton’s commitment to South Africa as a key hub in its global expansion strategy, backed by local assembly and an investment in the future of African mobility.

A Journey of Growth: Foton’s Story in South Africa
Foton’s journey in South Africa began with a simple vision: to bring reliable, high-performing, and affordable bakkies to the people who keep the country moving –  from the bustling cities to the toughest worksites, our vehicles are Built For Business.

In October 2025, Foton celebrated a historic milestone when it rolled out its first pre-production Completely Knocked Down (CKD) pickup from its South African assembly line. This achievement forms part of Foton’s “Lighthouse Plan”, which positions South Africa as a strategic manufacturing and growth hub for the African market.

With an initial plan to establish 60 dealerships nationwide, Foton has made it clear – the brand is here to stay. As Foton South Africa CEO Marius Smal proudly stated, “This milestone reflects our confidence in South Africa’s potential, and our belief in its people as partners in progress. The Tunland V-Series represents the next generation of intelligent, durable, and world-class full-size double-cab bakkies built for Mzansi.”

The New Tunland V-Series: Rugged and Refined

The Tunland V7 and Tunland V9 are designed to meet the demands of South Africa’s unique terrain and lifestyle – tough enough for the bush, yet refined enough for the city.

Tunland V7 and Tunland V9 – Redefining the double cab market in SA

Built for those who need size, power and dependability every day, the Tunland V7 embodies practicality and toughness. Its leaf-sprung rear suspension ensures durability and load-bearing strength, making it the ideal companion for construction sites, farms, and outdoor adventures.

On the other hand, the Tunland V9, with its multi-link rear suspension, offers a more subtle ride for those requiring a more refined poise even on rough terrain.

Under the hood lies a 2.0-litre AUCAN turbocharged diesel engine, co-developed with Cummins, paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission and a 48V mild-hybrid system – delivering improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions without compromising on power.
