Zanele Potelwa returns to host the Tropika Island Of Treasure

Tropika Island of Treasure reaches a milestone moment after earning two nominations at the South African Film and Television Awards 2026.

The previous season, Tropika Island of Treasure: Zanzibar, received a nomination in the Best Competition Reality Show category. Host Zanele Potelwa was nominated for Best TV Presenter, recognising her energy and command of the island’s high-pressure environment.

Season 12 promises bigger stakes

The 12th season will deliver new twists, demanding challenges and a fresh island location. Since its debut in 2008, the franchise has built a loyal audience drawn to its mix of celebrity contestants and adventure-driven competition.

Zanele Potelwa says returning as host feels like a full-circle moment.

“Being back as host is a dream come true. This will be the biggest season yet. Viewers are not ready for the surprises, the celebrity contestants and everything we’ve prepared behind the scenes.”

She adds that the SAFTA nomination makes the announcement even more meaningful.
