South Africa’s most iconic reality competition is back. Tropika Island of Treasure returns for its highly anticipated 12th season, bringing high-stakes challenges, island luxury and a star-studded cast to television screens.

Award-winning presenter Zanele Potelwa returns as host, guiding contestants through the ultimate island competition. Eight new celebrity contestants will compete for bragging rights and a share of the prize money.

Meet the Season 12 celebrity contestants

Nadia Nakai

Award-winning rapper Nadia Nakai remains one of the most influential voices in African hip-hop. Known for hits including “Naaa Meaan”, “Money Back” and “Practice”, she brings confidence, competitiveness and strong stage presence to the island.

Caster Semenya

Two-time Olympic gold medallist in the 800m at the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics, Semenya is one of South Africa’s most celebrated athletes. Her discipline and competitive mindset make her a formidable contestant.

Francois Hougaard

Former Springbok scrum-half Francois Hougaard has competed at the highest levels of rugby, including the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Known for speed and tactical skill, Hougaard brings athletic strength and resilience to the competition.

Leandie du Randt

Actress, model and motivational speaker Leandie du Randt has built a diverse career across television, film and publishing. With a background in industrial psychology, she combines strategic thinking with determination.

Sandile Mahlangu

Sandile Mahlangu rose to fame through roles in Isibaya and the global Netflix series Blood & Water. His versatility as an actor and musician may prove valuable in the unpredictable island environment.

Amanda du-Pont

Amanda du-Pont is known for roles in popular productions, including Skeem Saam and Single Ladies SA. She also appeared in the Netflix thriller Shadow. Her experience across acting and media adds a competitive edge.

Lalela Mswane

After winning Miss South Africa 2021, Lalela Mswane went on to win Miss Supranational 2022. Known for leadership and advocacy work, she enters the competition with discipline and focus.

Wiseman Mncube

SAFTA-winning actor Wiseman Mncube gained acclaim for his role as Sbonelo on Uzalo. His analytical and observant personality may give him a strategic advantage in the competition.

A new journey before the island adventure

Before the official season premiere, viewers will also see a new companion show titled Tropika Island Search.

In this pre-season series, host Zanele Potelwa travels to seven island destinations alongside former celebrity contestants to select the perfect location for Season 12.

The show premieres on Monday, 16 March at 18:00 on S3, with repeats every Friday at 17:00 on SABC 1.

Auditions open for members of the public

Producers are also searching for eight members of the public to compete alongside the celebrities.

Aspiring contestants must upload an audition video to TikTok, Facebook, X or Instagram, tag @MyTropika and include the hashtag #Tropika.

Finalists will compete for a share of the R1 million grand prize and receive a R10,000 shopping voucher from Pep to prepare for the island adventure.

Auditions opened on 5 March and close on 5 May 2026.

A bigger and smoother season ahead

According to Miantha Roux, Business Unit Head: Beverages at Clover, Season 12 promises a bigger, more exciting experience for viewers.

“Every season, we aim to elevate the Tropika Island of Treasure experience. With an all-star cast and a brand-new companion show, viewers will see an evolved version of the competition they know and love,” she says.

Brand Manager Sveti Kovatcheva adds that the show continues to celebrate adventure, teamwork and the opportunity for everyday South Africans to step into the spotlight.

With an exciting celebrity lineup and new twists ahead, the upcoming season promises to be one of the most memorable in the show’s history.
