South Africans are set to fall in love all over again when Pretty Woman: The Musical debuts on local soil in 2026. The smash-hit Broadway and West End production will open at Artscape Opera House in Cape Town on 18 March 2026, followed by a season at Montecasino’s Teatro in Johannesburg from 24 April.

This is the first time the globally acclaimed stage adaptation of the 1990 film, starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, will be performed in South Africa.

A Musical Filled with Heart, Humour, and Hollywood Glamour

Bringing together romance, nostalgia, and unforgettable music, Pretty Woman: The Musical is a vibrant reimagining of the classic love story that captivated millions. The show features an original score by Grammy Award-winning artist Bryan Adams and includes the iconic hit Oh, Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison.

Bryan Adams praised the production saying, “I went to see it last year and it blew me away!”

The musical traces the story of Vivian and Edward, two unlikely soulmates who discover love, vulnerability, and transformation in the most unexpected way.

South Africa to Host World-Class Production

Produced by Showtime Management in association with Crossroads Live North America, this production will feature an all-South African cast, crew, and orchestra, under the guidance of an international creative team.

“This timeless story has captured hearts across the world, and now it’s South Africa’s turn,” says Hazel Feldman of Showtime Management. “The energy, the nostalgia, the music – audiences are going to be swept away.”
