DStv Launches Thol-iUpsize Campaign to Reward Decoder Customers

116

DStv is stepping up its turnaround strategy with the launch of Thol-iUpsize. This nationwide campaign automatically upgrades active decoder subscribers in South Africa to higher-tier packages at no extra cost. Running from November 10 to December 31, 2025, the promotion offers customers even more to enjoy this festive season.

A Boost in Value for Loyal Viewers

The Thol-iUpsize campaign forms part of DStv’s wider drive to enhance customer value and accessibility. It follows a series of initiatives — including decoder price cuts, a refreshed DStv Rewards programme, and the successful Open Time Weekend, which gave all decoder subscribers temporary access to Premium content and live sport.

“What we’re doing with our Upsize campaign is part of a bigger value reset at DStv,” said Byron du Plessis, CEO: Pay TV South Africa at MultiChoice, a CANAL+ company.
“We’re focused on making DStv more accessible and rewarding, with affordability and customer experience at the heart of our strategy.”

How Thol-iUpsize Works

During the campaign period:
Compact Plus and Compact customers receive Premium access.
Family and Access customers receive Compact access.

All upgrades happen automatically — no action is required from customers. Regular billing will resume in January 2026.

Festive Highlights on DStv

With the summer holidays approaching, families can enjoy a line-up of unmissable entertainment, including:
Task, starring Mark Ruffalo and Thuso Mbedu, on M-Net
Mpondoland on Mzansi Magic
Kokkedoor: Son en See on kykNET, celebrating festive cooking traditions
• Live sport, including the Carling Cup Final and Proteas tour to India

Sports fans can also look forward to two major tournaments during the campaign:
TotalEnergies CAF AFCON 2025, kicking off 21 December 2025
Betway SA20 Season 4, starting 26 December 2025

Affordable Access with New Decoder Prices

To make joining easier, DStv is relaunching its online store later this month with free delivery and a simplified ordering process.
Decoder prices have already been reduced (effective 1 November):
• From R299 online (excluding installation)
• From R699 with installation, depending on retailer

“Together, these initiatives — from Thol-iUpsize and decoder price cuts to the AFCON 2025 broadcast — show the progress we’re already making,” says du Plessis.
“DStv and CANAL+’s combined scale allows us to give customers across Africa more choice and better value than ever before.”

Who Qualifies for Thol-iUpsize?
