Chef Katlego Mlambo has announced that 2025 will be a year of both personal and professional milestones. Alongside preparing for fatherhood with his first child, the charismatic chef will once again take on his role as judge on MasterChef South Africa Season 6, which will find a new home on e.tv.
The news was shared by Mlambo on Instagram on Heritage Day, underscoring his passion for South African food traditions and culture.
MasterChef South Africa Moves to e.tv
Season 6 of the hit cooking competition will air in prime time on e.tv every Sunday at 18:00 from early 2026, with rebroadcasts on eExtra and eReality. The show promises to celebrate Mzansi’s rich and diverse food heritage, with contestants competing for the title of South Africa’s new MasterChef and a grand prize of R1 million.
Aspiring home cooks can apply via masterchefsa.tv, with entries closing on Thursday, 16 October.
“This Season is About Bringing Mzansi to the Table”
Encouraging food lovers to take part, Mlambo said:
“This season is all about bringing Mzansi to the table, and I’m so stoked to be a judge again on the local version of the world’s biggest and best television cooking show. I’m hoping to see contestants who can blow my socks off with delicious dishes rooted in our own food traditions. I’m a sucker for inyama yangaphakathi, umngqusho, seven colours, braaibroodjies and bobotie – but with that elevated MasterChef twist.”
A Career Defined by Global and Local Excellence
Mlambo’s culinary journey began at home, inspired by his grandmother, mother, and aunts. After training at the Silwood School of Cookery, he gained international experience in Great Britain and the United States before returning to South Africa.
Career highlights include:
- 2019 Eat Out Nederburg Rising Star Award.
- Serving as head chef for the Nelson Mandela Centenary Celebrations in Washington, attended by 500 global leaders and celebrities.
- Leading the kitchen at Marabi Club, which won African Restaurant of the Year at the Luxe Awards.
- Presenting two Food Network shows: Inside Job and Everyday Wow.
- Launching his company, Alles Gut, with a new restaurant in development.
